About Me

Hi there! I’m Bonnie Shariati, your go-to source for managing and preventing diabetes through science-based nutrition and lifestyle choices. As an advanced practice registered dietitian (RDN-AP), I bring experience and passion to help people like you navigate the complex world of diabetes with confidence. I firmly believe that living with diabetes doesn’t mean sacrificing the joy and vitality of life. My mission is to empower you to take control of your health and embrace a vibrant, fulfilling life. Together, we’ll explore the incredible power of nutrition to manage and prevent diabetes effectively.

I have been (and still am!) an active, practicing dietitian for the past 15 years, but my love for nutrition started way before my formal education. I remember as a young woman just married to my amazing husband (now for 32 years!), needing to know how much vitamin A was in a carrot! I read every book I could find on the science of food and how it interacts with our bodies, but I knew there was so much more to know. When my youngest son (I have two incredible boys!) started kindergarten, I began my journey and never looked back. I knew that the education needed to help people manage chronic conditions, whether it be diabetes, heart or kidney disease, wound healing, or nutrition support (tube feedings or parenteral nutrition) through evidenced-based nutrition was not only meaningful, but important. Especially now when an abundance of nutrition information is at your fingertips (often distributed incorrectly) making it seem more confusing than ever.

My Approach

Diabetes management and prevention is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Understanding unique needs and lifestyles is not just important, but vital in reaching and sustaining your goals, what ever they may be. My approach is to help you where you are right now. Maybe you love to cook and just need a structured meal plan. Maybe you don’t have time to cook and need quick, easy meal prep options. Maybe you are taking care of a loved one with special dietary needs and don’t know where to start. I’ll break down complex concepts into digestible, practical strategies, empowering you to make informed choices and take charge of your well-being.
